Inktober Day 6: Fancy
I’ve been trying to go with my first loose sketch of an idea, but as I had simply written down, “ink pigs”, I decided to give this one some more thought. I loved the fancy teapot from yesterday’s ‘Rodent’ prompt. I thought I’d make some fancy cookies to go with it. But mice kept appearing and nibbling on the cookies and that just wasn’t what I was going for. So then I sketched up a little girl at a tea party with her mouse , stuffed frog , teddy bear. But it still wasn’t quite right. So I got the girl up and dancing in a frilly fancy dress (thank you flower girl dress references!), with a dressed up teddy stuffed frog. And here we are:
Umm, I kind of really love her.
I have a project I’ve been percolating on that involves drawing a lot of princesses. Which I’ve seen as a challenge as I’m not a very princessey person. As in, I’m pretty dang old (or at least feel like it most of the days) and I haven’t even figured out how to do my make-up and hair yet. And, as it probably involves time I’d rather spend reading and drawing and taking care of kids, it will have to wait a little longer. However, this darling fancy picture has given me hope that I might be able to pull the princess project off!
