My kids are starting to get into it now.
I find that my kids seem to need a day or two (or three) to understand that even this simple kind of art will take more time than they think. There are multiple coats with trips to the hairdryer and fan. There is figuring out colours and planning. There is exploring with patterns and mixing and seeing how your paint actually looks on the rocks (which is a lot rougher than paper).
Today, we even had a few things prepped and ready for tomorrow. These backgrounds are awaiting their silhouettes.
…and I coloured another leaf rock.
