I wanted to play around with some watercolour painting. I recently saw a technique where you sketch out your drawing, and then transfer it to watercolour paper using charcoal paper. This sounds brilliant. Let’s give it a go:
First, some sketches:
A hedgehog.
Who found a snail.
And learned to be a friend.
I took a picture of my sketches, then popped them into Krita and resized them into a bit of a comic panel type composition. Then I put those sketches on top of charcoal paper and over water colour paper.
Then I traced. And painted. And outlined.
Maybe it’s more of a story about a snail that found a hedgehog than the other way around? But a story of sweet friendship nevertheless.
It reads top to bottom, left to right.
Should I have put panel lines in? Maybe the top left box big, and bottom right box biggest? Left more white bits? Used a nicer bit of watercolour paper (this one has marks in the bottom right that I thought I could erase. Turns out I can’t).
A good effort though.
Glad you found a friend, little prickly hedgie ball.
