Okay, after you have the fleece, you need to do a first pass over it and clean it up. I saw some ladies skirting a fleece on a table like this on youtube, but it really does look like a drying rack.

‘Dry’ is coming up 😉 .
With skirting, you get the really gross and unusable (for spinning) bits off the fleece, then you wash everything.
